Central Savannah River Area (CSRA) Section Homepage

The Central Savannah River Area (CSRA) Section of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) has contributed to the profession of chemical engineering for five decades.  The CSRA Section has almost 200 members who are employed in a wide variety of industries, governmental agencies, and universities. This diversity brings an interesting blend of knowledge and experience to the Section.  Our section has monthly programs from September through May, and is an active section with a variety of social / technical meetings and tours designed to promote education, provide career guidance, and encourage research in the profession of chemical engineering.

The CSRA Section serves AIChE members of the Augusta, Aiken, North Augusta, and surrounding communities of Georgia and South Carolina, and is approximately one hour from Columbia, S.C., 2 ½ hours from Atlanta, and 3 ½ hours from the Atlantic Coast.  Augusta, Georgia, often called the Garden City of the South, is probably best known as home to the Masters Golf Tournament, as well as the home of the late singer James Brown.  Aiken, S.C., with its temperate climate and sandy soil, is well known in the equine world as home during the winter months to hundreds of thoroughbred horses, and even hosts their own Triple Crown.  In addition, Aiken, is near the nationally recognized Savannah River Site, a Department of Energy government nuclear materials processing center, and home to the Savannah River National Laboratory.

According to the CSRA Section charter, the purposes of the Section (a nonprofit scientific, educational and charitable organization) are the furtherance of the aims and purposes of AIChE and the advancement of the science of chemical engineering and of related sciences.  Welcome to the website of the CSRA Section of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers!
